Golden Jubilee 2004

2004 , marked the 50th birthday of Barlanark-Greyfriars church and many of it's organisations.

Our friends at St Jude's also celebrated their 50th at the same time.

The picture at the top of the page shows a tapestry that hangs in the new church.

It was made by some ladies in our kirk who were original residents of the area when Barlanark was established in 1954.

A number of events took place during the Jubilee and they are listed below.

• Family Ceilidh & Fireworks Display - Sat 31st January 2004
• Sunday 1st February 2004 - All Age Family Service
• Adult Dinner Dance in October at the GESH Hall in Garthamlock
• Family Christmas Ceilidh
• A Display of the History of the church and it's organisations
• Community Bowls Tournament organised by our Men's fellowship
• Improvements to our Kitchens with a view to having a drop in cafe once a week
• Improved Disabled Access and Toilets
• Open Air Songs of Praise service Sunday 29th August.
• Alpha Course - - 13 week course in basic christianity
